15 killed in Punjab as bus rams into tree
Dhariwal, Gurdaspur, March 11: Fifteen people, including five women, were killed and 40 others injured when a private bus rammed into a tree near here on Tuesday, police said.
The bus was coming to Batala from Gurdaspur when the accident occurred near Bidhipur village railway crossing at around 5 PM.
The bus turned turtle after ramming into the tree, police said.
At least nine persons, including five women, were killed on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Gurdaspur civil hospital where six persons succumbed to their injuries. However, a three-year -old child escaped unhurt in the mishap.
Some of the injured were also admitted at Naushehra Majha Singh village community health centre. The condition of about six injured was reported to be serious.
