Ludhiana September 28:
A man allegedly strangled his wife and put her body in an iron box meant for keeping clothes. The body of the woman was recovered this morning, a day after her murder.
The police have booked Rajesh Kumar, a resident the Baba Namdev colony, for reportedly killing his wife Rinku (26). The motive of the murder is stated to be incessant feuds between the couple.
According to police, the couple was married for the past five years but used to fight often over petty matters. Sources said the man, who used to work as a labourer, had been booked in a couple of petty criminal cases. Sources said that owing to their never-ending matrimonial dispute, Rinku’s mother Sudheera Devi had called the couple to stay at her house till their dispute was resolved.
On Friday morning, when no one was at home, the accused reportedly strangled his wife and called up one of her relatives at 1.30 pm informing them about the murder. He also told them that he had hidden her body. When Sudheera Devi came to know about this, she took it as a prank. When she returned home the same evening, she did not find her daughter or son-in-law home and thought they had gone out somewhere, police sources added.
Sources said that the murder came to light this morning when Sudheera Devi opened the trunk and found the body. After registering a murder case against Rajesh Kumar, the police have started searching for him. Meanwhile, Rinku’s body was taken to the Civil Hospital for a postmortem.
