New Delhi: Claiming that Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju had been misquoted during his visit to Punjab’s border areas, the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday clarified: “Punjab is no more under the Punjab Disturbed Areas Act, 1984, as the situation has improved.”
It said the minister had only said that there were “elements within the country and across the border who are creating disturbance in Punjab” and that the Centre would continue to keep a close watch on such elements.
