Ludhiana May 8:

Alleging that corruption has crossed all limits in Punjab, state Congress chief Amarinder Singh demanded dissolution of assembly and imposition of Governor's rule in the state.

Talking to reporters here, Capt Amarinder Singh said with two Chief Parliamentary Secretaries involved in corruption and several ministers, besides the Assembly Speaker, facing corruption charges, Punjab was a fit case for the dissolution of the assembly and holding of fresh elections under the Governor's rule.

He was responding to reporters queries outside the District Court Complex where he had come to appear in the Ludhiana City Centre scam case. Capt Singh criticised the Akali-BJP government, particularly Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, for trying to interfere in the investigations being carried out by the CBI in the corruption case wherein Chief Parliamentary Secretary and BJP MLA Raj Khurana had been arrested.

Two Punjab Ministers-Industries Minister Manoranjan Kalia and Technical Education Minister Swarna Ram --had also been isssued summons by the CBI in the case.Questioning the locus standi of the government to seek information from the CBI through the Chief Secretary, Capt Singh said this was quite unprecedented that the investigation agency was being asked to furnish the details of the investigation. He said the Chief Secretary must have written the letter to the CBI DIG in Chandigarh at the behest of the ''Badals'' only.
