Here is the list of players who have been released and transferred by teams for the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League.

Players released by teams before the December 15-deadline:

Royal Challengers Bangalore

In a major move, RCB have released all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, into the auctions pool for the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), alongside six others. It was earlier reported that captain Virat Kohli wanted Yuvraj retained in the side, but his request has been turned down by the RCB management. Yuvraj, who was bought for Rs 14 Crore, was the highest bid player at the 2014 auctions.

Muttiah Muralitharan, Albie Morkel, Ravi Rampaul, Sachin Rana, Shadab Jakati and Tanmay Mishra are the other players to be released by the Bangalore franchise.

This means that RCB now have a sum of Rs 21 Crore in their purse for the auctions taking place early next year. It is also expected that RCB will be keen to buy back Yuvraj at the auctions for a lesser price.

Barring a very few games, Yuvraj did not justify his price tag last year. Morkel and Muralitharan did not have a great outing, while Rampaul and Jakati hardly got a game.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have released as many as 10 players, including big names like Darren Sammy, Aaron Finch, Irfan Pathan and Amit Mishra. Brendan Taylor, Jason Holder, Venugopal Rao, Prasanth Parameswaran, Anirudha Srikanth and Manpreet Juneja were the other players released by the Hyderabad franchise

Sammy did not quite live up to his reputation of being an all-rounder. He averaged just 15.42 with the bat and managed to pick up just three wickets. Although Finch showed a lot of promise, he wasn't consistent enough throughout the tournament. Mishra was a big disappointment for SRH last season. He was thought to be their trumpcard, but lack of performances saw him being ignored for a few matches. In fact, he managed to bag just 7 wickets in 10 matches.

Mumbai Indians

Mumbai Indians have let go of 8 players including Zaheer Khan, Michael Hussey, Pragyan Ojha and late-replacement, Praveen Kumar into the auctions pool for the 2015 edition of IPL.

After picking up an injury, Zaheer was ruled out of the tournament midway last year. Ojha was hardly impressive, managing to pick up just 4 wickets in 12 games. Surprisingly, Mr. Cricket didn't have the same impact he had with Chennai Super Kings and often lost his place to Lendl Simmons in the playing XI.

The Mumbai franchise has decided to retain Lasith Malinga in their squad.

Delhi Daredevils

Kevin Pietersen, Ross Taylor, Dinesh Karthik and Murali Vijay have been released by Delhi Daredevils (DD), who now have a sum of Rs 40 crore to spend. Delhi have let go of a total of 13 players from their side. The other players include, Jayadev Unadkat, Laxmi Ratan Shukla. Rahul Sharma, Wayne Parnell, J Neesham, Siddarth Kaul, Rahul Shukla, HS Sharath and Milind Kumar.

Pietersen missed the few games last year due to injury, while Taylor wasn't a regular in the side. Vijay managed to score just one fifty and Karthik wasn't consistent with the bat throughout the season.

JP Duminy, who was a star for DD last season, has been retained.

Kings XI Punjab

Cheteshwar Pujara, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Murali Kartik have all been released by KXIP. By releasing these players, KXIP now have a sum of Rs 11.8 crore in their purse.

While Pujara failed to score at a brisk pace, Balaji was inconsistent with his performances during IPL-7. Murali Kartik, who was bought only on the second day of the 2014 auctions, struggled to make it to the playing XI and got just two games in the entire season.

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have released four players. Apart from the Australian trio of David Hussey, John Hastings and Ben Hilfenhaus, Vijay Shankar is the other player to be released into the auctions pool.

Late-signing Hussey was not impressive in the five games that he played, while Hastings and Shankar barely took the field. Hilfenhaus was blowing hot and cold and was not a regular in the side.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals have let go of five players, including veteran batsman Brad Hodge and West Indies all-rounder Kevon Cooper. Ankit Sharma, Amit Sharma and Ankush Bains are the three others, who have been released by the franchise.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Kolkata Knight Riders have released Jacques Kallis, Debabrata Das, Sayan Mondal from their squad for IPL-8. While Das and Mondal will go into the auctions pool, Kallis will return to the side as a mentor and batting consultant.

Players transferred:

RCB have roped in Manvider Bisla from Kolkata Knight Riders and Iqbal Abdulla from Rajasthan Royals.
Mumbai Indians have signed Vinay Kumar from Kolkata Knight Riders, Unmukt Chand and Parthiv Patel from Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively.
