A 25-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree in Sector 54. The deceased is survived by his wife and two kids.
According to the police, the victim has been identified as Dharam Singh, a resident of Phase 3-A, Mohali.
The body was noticed hanging by local residents this afternoon after which the police were informed.
The police took the victim to the hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The autopsy will be conducted tomorrow. No injury marks were found on the deceased’s body.
The police said the victim had left home on Saturday and did not return. The victim had left his purse and other belongings at home.
He used to work at a shoe store in Phase 3B2, Mohali. The family members of the victim were informed about the incident.
“No suicide note was recovered from the victim,” said a police official. The police have initiated inquest proceedings.
