Yahoo Mail has just received a makeover with a major focus on speed and ease of use. Yahoo’s CEO Marissa Mayer recently stated on the official blog that the improvements to Yahoo Mail will be available on all major platforms, which include Web, Windows 8, iPhone/ iPod touch and Android.

Mayer states that the redesigned Yahoo will now allow users to get through their emails faster that before. They have also made the inbox more intuitive and easier to navigate, allowing a user to focus on the messages they receive. Yahoo Mail now has a consistent look and feel across devices.

Yahoo Mail for iOS and Android released

“Email is the ultimate daily habit. It’s often the first thing we check in the morning and the last thing before going to bed. Why? Because it’s one of the simplest and most basic forms of communication. And since it’s such an important part of our daily lives, we’re making a few improvements to Yahoo! Mail,” Meyer stated.

The Yahoo Mail app has also been released for iOS devices . In the description for iOS, Yahoo states that the app allows a user to access the inbox with just one tap, receive automatic notifications for new messages and quickly scan messages in the inbox with continuous scroll.

Also, the app auto-completes email addresses as you type, and allows you to swipe left or right on any message to delete, flag, move, or mark it as read. You can multi-select messages to organise the inbox faster too. Users will also be able to easily attach photos or take new ones while composing a message, preview photos right at the top of a message and search through all messages across all folders. The size of the iOS app is 3.9 MB.

Yahoo also recently updated it app for Android devices. In this version, Yahoo has renamed the application to 'Y! Mail', to ensure one does not miss it in their apps. There are also improvements in battery performance, increased stability for the app, has SSL turned on by default, more reliable push notifications and a new interface with pull-to-refresh, a slide-out folder list and action bars.
