Irked over the poor financial condition and strained relations with husband, a woman, along with her two children, attempted to commit suicide by setting herself ablaze here yesterday.
Punam and her children, seven-year-old son and five-year-old daughter, are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. The woman sustained 65 per cent burns while her children received 50 per cent burns.
The investigating police official said they would send a team to Jaipur to nab her husband, Sushant Bansal, who is at present living there.
The woman’s farther, Naresh Aggarwal, alleged that Sushant mentally harassed his daughter. She got married to Ludhiana-based Sushant in November 2000. However, after financial losses in the business, they migrated to Jaipur. Naresh alleged that Sushant was currently out of work and held his daughter responsible for this.
Unable to live with him, Punam, along with her children, had returned to her parents here on May 10.
