Bangalore: On a day when the Union Cabinet is set to take a final decision on Lokpal Bill, anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare on Sunday said that the government has cheated the nation on the ombudsman bill.
Reacting to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s statement that the government hopes to bring the Lokpal Bill before the Cabinet by Sunday, Hazare said, “I will give a rose to the Prime Minister if he ensures passage of the bill.”
In order to ensure quick passage of the Lokpal Bill, Hazare said that corruption has increased to a great extent in the country, and the people cannot waste time on checking it.
“Corruption has tarnished our country’s image worldwide,” he said.
