Uttar Pradesh: Police Officer Rescues Five-Day-Old Girl Thrown Into A 50-Foot-Deep Well

In a shocking incident, a five-day-old girl was thrown into a 50-foot-deep well by a yet-to-be-identified person on Tuesday. The incident took place in the evening near leather park area in Pali Mahaur village of Kirauli, Uttar Pradesh.

Fortunately, police sub-inspector Virpal Singh was called at the right time and he rescued the infant from the bottom of the well. However, the condition of the baby is critical now, reported Times Of India.

According to a local villager, everyone heard the wails of a child coming from the well. They rushed to the spot and found a baby wrapped in white cloth at the bottom of the dry well. They immediately called the police. The police came within few minutes and started the rescue operation.

Times Of India reports, that the Virpal Singh went down the well, tying a rope around the waist and rescued the baby girl. She was badly injured and was having trouble to breathe. She was rushed to a local health care centre, where first aid was given to her. Later, the police took her to S N Medical college late at night, where she was kept in the ICU of pediatric department.

A senior pediatrician, Dr Neeraj Kumar told Times Of India, “The girl is in highly critical condition and has been kept on ventilation, as one of her lungs has ruptured due to the impact of falling to the bottom of the well. Since we are yet to do an MRI on her, we are not sure as to how much more of her internal organs have been damaged. She is also suffering from a skin infection.”

Si Virpal Singh has been honoured by the villagers for rescuing the girl. The police suspect a woman who had come near to the well to throw something.
