TWO ARRESTED FOR STABBING GIRL

Ludhiana July 12:
The Ludhiana police have arrested two youths who had allegedly stabbed girl on Sunday night and had decamped with her car.
The youths have been identified as Randeep Singh alias Deep alias Bhatti, a resident of Dakha and Ramesh Kumar alias Sonu, a resident of Sudhara. Addressing the media, SSP RK Jaiswal said: “The victim told us that one of the assailants was addressing the other as Deepu.”
SP (Detective) Gurpreet Singh Toor said the police zeroed-in on the criminals with similar names. “We not only focussed on the local criminals but also on the criminals from the other areas.”’ Jaiswal further said that investigations led them to one Randeep Singh alias Deep alias Bhatti of Dakha in Jagraon.
He said the police came to know that Randeep Singh had recently bought a new silver Swift which fuelled police suspicion. The car snatched from the victim was also a silver-coloured Swift. Further investigations revealed that it was the same car and Randeep Singh had just changed the registration number.
When the police thoroughly questioned him, Randeep Singh gave in and confessed his crime. The police said Ramesh Kumar alias Sonu of Sudhar was the other accused in the case. The police had also recovered the stolen car and the sim card of her cellphone from the duo.
Randeep Singh had told his grandmother that he had bought a new car and he even took her (his grandmother) to a religious place in that car to pay obeisance. Jaiswal said that further investigations were on in this case. On Sunday night that the victim was kidnapped by two unidentified youths on knife-point. She was stabbed in the chest before being dumped on an isolated road.
