Banda: A day after her release from prison, the 17-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by a ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator and allegedly jailed on false theft charges, said yesterday she wanted to kill the politician "with her own hands".

"Left to me, I would kill the MLA [member of legislative assembly] who not only raped me but also passed me on to his henchmen," the rape victim told reporters at her village Shahbazpur.

She has accused ruling BSP legislator Purushottam Naresh Dwivedi of raping her and he is now in jail.

"After raping me twice, he [Dwivedi] asked me to get married to one his servants so that he could continue to use me... When I flatly refused his offer, he threatened to shoot me with his revolver," the teenager said.

Kept in captivity

"At the next opportunity, I somehow managed to slip away from the MLA's house, where I was kept in captivity for four days," she added. Prompted by an Allahabad High Court directive, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati ordered the victim's release on Saturday.

The girl said: "After I managed to run away from the MLA's house, I was caught by his goons who thrashed me before handing me over to police officials who also subjected me to physical torture."

According to her, when she was jailed at the behest of the politician on false theft charges, Banda Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Das pressurised her to withdraw her rape charges. "He [Das] came to my cell in Banda jail and directed me to withdraw my complaint... But I clearly told him that I would never do so, come what may," the girl recalled.
