In a heart wrenching incident, a toddler was brutally murdered and sexually assaulted by her step-father in Coimbatore.
Twenty six year-old Usha from Trichy was the mother of the toddler. The child was born to her through her previous wedlock. Usha got separated from her husband in 2014 and was living alone until she met Mahendran, who belonged to Coimbatore but was residing in Chennai.
The police said that Mahendran was arrested multiple times before for chain snatching. He was detained under the Goondas Act in 2015.
WHAT HAPPENED
After his release from the prison, he took Usha and her daughter to Trichy and then relocated to Coimbatore four months ago. They both got a job in a courier firm, and rented a house near Ram Nagar area.
Usha had to go to Chennai on Sunday to collect her salary arrears from her previous employer. She left her daughter under Mahendran's care only to return to a horrifying news about the death of her daughter.
When Usha was planning to return home, she got a call from Mahendran around midnight. He informed Usha that her daughter was having breathing difficulty and that he tried to take her to hospital but she died on the way.
Usha rushed to the home and when she saw her daughter's cold body, she grew suspicious. There were profound injury marks. Usha alerted the authorities who conducted an autopsy on her daughter's body and proved Usha's suspicion to be right. t
The autopsy report revealed that the toddler was sexually assaulted, not just once but multiple times. The poor child had also suffered from multiple fractures. The doctors said there were injuries on the child's face and on many parts of the body.
The police arrested Mahendran who was absconding for a while. He confessed that he had sexually assaulted Usha's daughter on multiple occasions and murdered the child late Monday night.
