Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in writing software in one or more languages (e.g., Java, Python, etc.).
  • Experience in maintaining internet facing production-grade applications in virtualized environments.
  • 5 years of experience managing client-facing projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and working with engineering/sales teams/customers.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with cluster deployment and orchestration technologies (e.g., Puppet, Chef, Salt, Ansible, Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, OpenStack, Jenkins).
  • Experience with scalable networking technologies (e.g., Load Balancers, Firewalls) and web standards (e.g., REST APIs, web security mechanisms).
  • Experience in system administration tasks in Linux, Unix, or Windows and familiarity with standard IT security practices (e.g., encryption, certificates, key management).
  • Knowledge of managing Kubernetes in large production environments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of open source server software (e.g., NGINX, RabbitMQ, Redis, Elasticsearch, etc).

As a Strategic Cloud Engineer, you'll guide customers on how to configure and deploy their containers on the cloud, consisting of network architecture, identity and access management, application security, logging, monitoring, billing and more.
In this role, you'll work with strategic cloud customers. Together with the team, you will support customer implementation of Google Cloud products through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, capacity planning, implementation, troubleshooting, monitoring, and more.
You'll consult with customers on how to best design their containerized applications for optimal scaling including continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), load balancer setup, caching, compute optimizations, continuous integration and delivery pipeline. You will travel to customer sites to deploy solutions and deliver workshops to educate and empower customers. Additionally, you will work closely with Product Management, Product Engineering and the Kubernetes Open Source Community to drive excellence in Google Cloud products and features.

Responsibilities
  • Work as a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex cloud infrastructure challenges in the areas of networking, containerization and clustering.
  • Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, open-source and sample code, and technical presentations adapting to different levels of key business and technical stakeholders.
  • Travel 30% of the time as required within the region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities.
