Sony is planning to finally bring the PSN service completely back online after the network was closed as a response to a network security breach.

It was more than a month ago when the company took its PlayStation Network offline upon discovering that the intruders had breached the security of the service. The news was followed by a number of class-action lawsuits launched over the Sony’s failure to protect user personal details.

Today Sony Corporation announced that it expects the network to be completely restored by the end of the current week. Sony’s Executive Deputy President Kazuo Hirai explained that the company’s experts have been conducting extra testing and following security verification of their commerce functions. This would allow to bring the PSN service entirely back online and let Sony fans continue to enjoy the premium entertainment experience which they’ve come to love.

The company appreciates the patience and support of its loyal customers shown during the time of outage, and promised that the restoration of PSN will include entire functionality on PS Store, as well as in-game commerce. In addition, they allowed to make users able to redeem vouchers and codes, and restore the full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and other devices. All functionality on Media Go will also be available by the end of this week.

The program includes a combination of free entertainment and service offerings and a month of free PlayStation Plus premium service available for all existing PSN users. A year’s worth of identity theft protection was also promised by the corporation. Within the program, PSN and PSP customers are offered to select 2 games from the provided lists.
