Sony Smartwatch 2 hands-on review : Affordable Smartwatch

On September 18th, Sony launched it’s newly announced line of products in Indian market. First one was it’s flagship smartphone, Xperia Z1, second one was the camera lenses and the third one was Sony’s Smartwatch 2.

Sony firstly announced it’s second-generation wearable tech back in late June and it was recently spotted at IFA show floor. Smartwatch 2 comes with some new modifications and also is much affordable then Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The price of Sony’s Smartwatch 2 in Indian market is Rs. 14990 and will be made available this October. Sony Smartwatch 2 is world’s first smartwatch which is water-resistant and also comes with NFC connectivity option. It comes with improved performance, intuitive interface and also with standalone capabilities.

Sony says that users will get the option of lot of apps for their smartwatch from Google’s official Play Store app and many more apps are also on the way. With the help of smartwatch 2 you can easily handle all your calls by a simple touch on your smartwatch. It will also allow you to easily take photos remotely from your Smartwatch with the help of Smart camera app. The display screen has been kicked up a bit to 1.6-inch with 220 x 176 resolution as compared to the previous version. Ya! That is a tiny color touchscreen and you are going to fit around six icons at one time. But it works smooth and is easy to handle too. The company has also made it slim than its predecessor. It has the ability to pair up with any Android handsets which is running Android Ice Cream Sandwich or later.

Talking about the design of Smartwatch 2, you will find a large power button on the right hand side of this device which looks very similar to the one which is present in other Xperia smartphones like Xperia Z, Z1 etc. Coming on the left hand side of the device, you will get a microUSB port for charging purpose and along the bottom bezel are the usual array of Android buttons: back, home and menu. Unfortunately the buttons weren’t always as responsive as the touchscreen.

PRICE LESS THEN GALAXY GEAR

Smartwatch 2 has a battery backup of around four days and is said to be pretty solid. It includes NFC connectivity option for one touch pairing and also a stunning premium design. When it is not connected with your phone, then it works as a standalone digital watch which looks good too. If you want then you can also personalized your Sony Smartwatch 2 with any standard 24mm wristband. Sony’s new watchstraps will be also made available for further expressions on personal style.

I think Sony smartwatch 2 is very nice product at this price range. It is better then the previous version. In the matter of price and compatibility it is best then Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

Nahi :)
But
When you are using a wireless Bluetooth® headset for music, you can use SmartWatch 2 as a phone remote to make or receive calls. When a call comes in, you can see who’s calling in your SmartWatch display, press once to answer* and enjoy hands-free calling at its easiest. You can also browse recent calls in your call log and use SmartWatch to initiate a call.
