Sony is the second largest smartphone brand in India



According to IDC, Sony is currently the second largest smartphone brand in the Indian market, overtaking Apple. Thanks to Sony’s mid-range smartphone which lead to increase in its value in the Indian smartphone market. According to IDC India senior market analyst Manasi Yadav, “Some of the top selling models for Sony are Xperia M Dual and Xperia C priced in this bracket, which is one of the fastest growing segments in the Indian smartphone market.” Samsung is still at the top with 43-percent value share in the market.

Apple lost its second position as because of the decision to withdraw the largest selling model, iPhone 4 from the Indian market, which vacant the Rs. 20,000 spot.”While this loss of sales prompted Apple to relaunch iPhone 4 once again in India in January, sales have not picked up since it is not at all spending on marketing or offering any buyback offer and even the initial euphoria around iPhone 5s has sobered down,” CEO added.
