Congress president Sonia Gandhi was admitted to Delhi’s Sir Ganga Ram Hospital on Tuesday because of asthma-related complaints, party sources told HT.

It was not immediately known exactly what procedures the 69-year-old leader was supposed to undergo.

This is the second time the Congress president has been admitted to the same hospital this year.

She was rushed to the west Delhi hospital in August for a shoulder reconstruction surgery after Gandhi dislocated and fractured her left shoulder during a Congress road-show in Varanasi.

Gandhi also suffered from massive electrolyte imbalance and acute diarrhoea, fever and vomiting.

Her condition was serious when she was flown in to Delhi directly from Uttar Pradesh, where assembly elections are to be held next year.
