Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tricks for how to use the common applications fasters using keyboard shortcuts. Get to know how can perform faster by not having to reach out for the mouse every time you need to do a task.


Windows

1. Rename a selected item [F2]
2. Open the drop-down list box in Windows Explorer. [F4], Pressing F4 again, moves the keyboard focus back to the previously used item
3. Open a folder tree of a selected folder, when working in Windows Explorer. Also to expand everything under the current selection back to a previously opened state. [+]
4. Bypass the AutoPlay feature when you insert a CD-ROM; to suppress the AutoExec macro in MSWord. [Shift] (while inserting the CD, or while opening Word)
5. Delete items permanently-without moving them to the Recycle Bin. [Shift] + [Delete]
6. Display a shortcut menu that shows a list of commands relevant to a selected object-same as right-clicking the mouse. [Shift] + [F10] or the Application key (the key next to the right-hand Windows key)

2. Insert a Date field into a document. [Alt] + [Shift] + [D]

Powerpoint

1. Advance to the next slide [N], Left-Click, [Spacebar], [Right Arrow], [Down Arrow], [Enter], or [Page Down]
