teelon saab vaise ta i have restricted myself from posting these days, and especially on issues like this, coz we know how controversial it gets.....but since i am here, i feel i need to drop by.........
Well first of all i believe (simply my thoughts, so no offense to anyone) jo asool, principles sikhi de banaye gaye san das gurus de through that defines sikhi, and those are the principles of our religion. What we do in our daily lives, be it following sikhism or making our own principles is our personal choice. For example, if one cuts their hair that the choice they make, but its not a principle of sikhism. Je asi nahi follow karde ta eh saadi apni personal choice hai, but it should not be said ki wats the logic behind this, its wrong and it shudnt be followed. 5 kakaar sikhi de asoola ch aunde han, je asi nahi mannde ta eh sadi apni choice hai, but that doesnt mean ki eh exist nahi karde......
Similarly, topi pauna sikhi de asoola de bahr hai, Haan asi paa lainde haan, i waer it, my brother wears it....again thats our personal choice we make living in todays world of fashion and rationality.......But, are we wrong according to sikhi - yes we are. Mainu gurbani di line nahi yaad aa rahi is time, but it goes something like "kutha hukka charas tamakoo, topi ganja thaare khakoo"........
Again no offense to anyone, i totally respect the choices people make according to their individual personalities, BuT it shud not be said ki jo saadi kaum, panth, de asool han o galat han. If i dont follow something i admit that i m wrong, not that the principle itself is wrong. So accroding to gurbani topi is not allowed if thats wat you just wanted to know, baaki agge sab nu request hai ki no controversies, repect the rules and principles of your religion evenif u dont follow them, coz thats the choice you make. Them were perfect human beings who brought sikhism into esixtance, and i have no doubts in for wat they have set the creteria for being a good sikh.
And here., i found the words from gurbani with the meanings as well...... (hun koi eh na kaheyo bhi hat te topi ch fark hai.....lol
"kut(h)aa hukaa charas thamaakoo || gaa(n)jaa ttopee thaarree khaakoo || ein kee our n kabehoo dhaekai || rehithava(n)th so si(n)gh visaekhai || "
Meat, opium, drugs and tobacco. Ganja, wearing hats, another's woman and alcohol. He who never even gazes at these evils. Recognise them as my disciplined Singh.
and simply speaking, rehatvaan sikh is one who follows the rehat. (i m totally not myself)...but the whole point of these lines is answering your request for any relativeness between sikhi and topi !
