Amritsar July 1:

Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) president Avtar Singh Makkar criticised Home Minister P Chidambaram saying that the Sikh community could never forget the Sikh genocide during 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

In a statement issued here, Makkar expressed strong resentment over the recent statement issued by the Home Minister who had urged the Sikh Community to forget 1984 anti-Sikh riots and move ahead. Makkar said that the ridiculous statement issued by Chidambaram has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. Twenty seven years back Sikhs were brutally killed and now Chidambaram is sprinkling salt on the unhealed wounds of the community by issuing such statements.
