KUALA LUMPUR: The public is invited to visit the "Sikh Bravery in Military History" photographic exhibition this month. It is being held in conjunction with Vaisakhi, an important celebration for Sikhs worldwide.
The exhibition will showcase over 400 black and white photographs of the British Indian Army in action during World War 1 and 2 in Malaya, Singapore, the Dutch Indies, Burma, Korea, China, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. It is organised by Mega Sound Machine Enterprise,
The photographs were obtained from the archives of the Imperial War Museum London, National Museum of Contemporary History Slovenia and other parts of the world.
The exhibition will offer Malaysians a rare glimpse of the British Indian Army's military contributions all over the world from the late 18th century till the end of World War 2 in 1945, said Harchand Singh Bedi, owner of Mega Sound Machine Enterprise, who obtained the photographs.
"In the past, hundreds of thousands of British Indian Army soldiers voluntarily fought with the British Army in the two World Wars and many of them died in the cause of freedom."
The exhibition will be held on Sunday at the Sikh Temple in Jalan Bukit Jawa, Klang. There will also be another exhibition at the Sikh Temple in Lorong Utara B off Jalan Utara, Petaling Jaya, on April 19.
The opening hours are from 10am to 4pm on both days.
