Moga October 19:
In the acid attack case on a Dalit rape victim, the SHO concerned has been removed from the police station (rural) while a local court has extended the police remand of all three accused for another day.
A senior official of the police department informed that SHO Jasbir Singh had been removed from his post and sent to the police lines with immediate effect. Additional SHO of the Mehna police station Jaswant Singh had been asked to take over as the SHO of the police station (rural) of the town.
DIG R.P. Mittal, while talking to media, said it was the prerogative of the SSP to remove/transfer the SHO. The SSP has, so far, distanced himself from mediapersons on the issue. Meanwhile, additional public prosecutor of the district Lakhvir Singh told reporters that all three accused in the case were produced before the court of Kuljit Pal Singh this afternoon. The court has extended their police remand for another day.
The victim is undergoing treatment in the district hospital at present at her own cost. Neither the state government nor the district administration has extended any financial help to her for treatment on humanitarian grounds.
