Charlie Sheen toured an Alabama neighbourhood levelled by tornadoes and said he wants to organise a relief event for victims in the state.

"I want to bring some money, hope, faith and healing to the area," said Sheen.

The actor, wearing a University of Alabama baseball cap, said he decided to visit after receiving an invitation via Twitter from a University of Alabama student.

Sheen spent the day in Tuscaloosa meeting with storm victims and first responders. He was accompanied by one of his so-called goddesses, Natalie Kenly, and former major league baseball player Todd Zeile.

At each stop, he was swarmed by dozens of people asking for autographs and photographs. Sheen also stopped by an area Kmart to buy flashlights for some of the thousands still without electricity. He paid the $324 (Dh1,190) tab, and then brought them to a relief centre amid loud cheers and applause.

Meanwhile, Sheen's divorce with his estranged wife Brooke Mueller has been finalised, reports said.

Both Sheen and Mueller, who have twin sons together, have reached a settlement agreement to officially end their marriage Monday, reports tmz.com.

Sheen will pay Mueller $55,000 a month in child support as well as a lump sum of $757,698. Sheen will also keep the family home in Los Angeles, but will pay Mueller $1 million for her share of the property.
