SGPC Proposes To Ban Mobiles In Darbar Sahib Complex

Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC ) is seriously thinking over a proposal to disallow Mobiles in Darbar Sahib Complex. This was disclosed by SGPC president Jathedar Avtar Singh.

Talking to ‘Yes Punjab’ Jathedar Avtar Singh said that the idea is to maintain and ensure security Sri Darbar Sahib Complex. He said that SGPC is considering a ban on mobiles inside the complex so that any unwanted element may not take advantage of a mobile and breach the security.

The SGPC president said that important religious places of various reloigions already do not allow mobile phones inside their complexes as a precautionary measure. He said otherwise Mobiles also prove to be a nuisance inside the religious places and need to be banned.

Jathedar Avtar Singh said that SGPC was seriously thinking over the proposal and all aspects shall be taken into account before taking a final decision.

“A proper place for keeping mobiles of the devotees outside the complex shall be speicified and receipts shall be issued while keeping the mobiles there”, he said.
