Jiya’s parents registered a complaint at Sector 4 police outpost. FIR under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life) and 338 (grievous hurt) of Indian Penal Code was registered in the case.
“We have taken testimonies of witnesses and are probing the case. We are also trying if we can have any CCTV footage from the accident area. No one has been arrested so far,” assistant commissioner of police, Hawa Singh, said.
The school agreed to pay for the girl’s treatment only after a protest by parents at the school’s Sector 40 branch on Friday. The teacher who accompanied the students in the bus has also been suspended.
Soon after the news of her death, tributes started pouring in on social media.
“RIP Jiya, this is really sad. May god give courage to her parents,” Gunjan Khurana, a parent, wrote on the Facebook group Gurgaon Parents for Better Education.
Some comments also touched on the issue of safety of school-going kids.
“RIP, these schools can’t feel the loss and pain Jiya faced. They just know how to take huge fees along with huge transport charge,” Atul Sharma said.
