Sensex rebounds 59 points in opening trade

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex on Tuesday recovered by over 59 points in the opening trade on buying by funds at lucrative lower levels.

The 30-share index, which had lost 336.62 points in the previous session in tandem with melting global markets, bounced back by over 59.46 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 16,840.53 points.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange's Nifty rose by 17.70 points, or 0.34 per cent, to 5,051.70 points.

Marketmen said foreign funds were seen buying Indian stocks as it's an emerging market.

Among gainers Reliance industries rose by 0.11 per cent to Rs 1,010.50, Tata Power by 1.41 per cent to Rs 1,242.00, Maruti Suzuki by 1.35 per cent to Rs 1,332.00 and Hero Honda by 1.14 per cent to Rs 2,000.00.
