Senior Bajaj Auto exec, wife die in Mumbai-Pune expressway crash, kids injured

A senior level executive working with Bajaj Auto and his wife were killed while their two children suffered serious injuries in a mishap on Mumbai-Pune expressway, police said on Monday.
Amrutkumar Rath, 45, was the HR manager at Bajaj Auto. Rath along with his family was returning to Pune from Mumbai on Sunday afternoon when Rath lost control of his BMW (MH14 EP369) near Malawali, some 60 kilometers from Pune.
“The BMW car hit the median after Rath lost control over the car,” said Shankar Awatade, police inspector who is attached with Nigdi police station. Rath and his wife Padmaja, 40, died instantly while their two children Adisha, 18 and Alman, 10, suffered fracture and joint dislocation and were hospitalized at Lokmanya hospital, Nigdi, said Awatade.

The expressway had received heavy rain in the morning. It was drizzling when Rath was returning to Pune on Sunday afternoon.
According to doctors at the Lokmanya hospital, Adisha has suffered a hip dislocation and has undergone surgery. Alman, who sustained abdominal injuries, was critical when he was taken to hospital. Police said bodies of Rath and his wife were sent to post-mortem at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial hospital following which they were handed over to relatives.
