As the 5.1km Heritage Line will attract tourists and is close to monuments such as Red Fort and Jama Masjid, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will focus on both — commandoes and frisking staff trained in soft skills.
Trial run on the ITO-Kashmere Gate section is on and is likely to be opened by November this year. This corridor will connect the old Delhi areas such as Daryaganj, Delhi Gate and Red Fort with Janpath.
Around 250 personnel of CISF are currently under training and will be posted at these stations to secure the area. “Intensive soft skill training with special emphasis on behaviour and courtesy is being provided to the personnel to be deployed in Heritage line. Women personnel trained in ‘Pekiti-Tirsia Kali’; a close quarter unarmed combat system against multiple opponents will be deployed,” said a CISF official.
Since the stations are sensitive, the CISF will deploy Quick Reaction Teams with commando trained personnel outside every station. A dog squad will be available for this corridor.
The women commandos have been trained to tactically use common objects pen, hairpin, cap, belt, shoe laces, keys and sandals as deadly weapons to take on rogue elements.

“These women have been given training in this special martial art as this ensures less harm to the suspect and he or she is neutralised quickly. In sensitive cases, we need the suspect alive so that he can be interrogated for further leads. These women personnel would patrol metro stations and coaches,” the official added.
The CISF personnel will be briefed about the legacy of Shahjahanabad, which will be showcased in four metro stations in the Shahjahanabad area. The narrative is structured thematically in a manner that each station will offer the viewer a different glimpse of a defining attribute of the Walled City.
“We have told our staff that tourists should not get the bad impression. We usually do soft skills training for the staff posted at installation where they have to deal with public. Apart from this, for Heritage Line, there is a separate training to ensure commuters don’t face any rude behaviour. We already secure Heritage monuments such as Taj Mahal and Red Fort and this has helped us to know how to deal with tourists,” the CISF official added.
