SARABJIT, KIRPAL MAY GET LIFE TERM

There was some good news for the family of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian on death row in Pakistan, on Saturday with news from across the border that his death sentence might get commuted to life imprisonment.
Apart from Sarabjit Singh, the other Indian prisoner who could get a life term instead is Kirpal Singh. The duo's sentence would be commuted once Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf approves Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s recommendation on the issue. Gilani made the recommendation.
Ansar Burney, rights activist and advisory member of United Nation Human Rights Council, from Karachi that Prime Minister Gilani had asked President Musharraf to commute all death sentences in Pakistan to that of life imprisonment.
