Chandigarh May 18:

The Shiromani Akali Dal (DAL) slammed the Congress-led UPA Government for making petrol costlier while slashing the rate of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) and demanded roll back in petrol prices.

''The government is robbing the pocket of common man to fill the coffers of multinational aviation companies by making petrol costlier then Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF),'' SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema said in a statement issued here.

''Aam Adami ki Sarkar has exposed its real pro-MNC face by slashing the rate of ATF by over Rs 3000 per barrel, the day it effected historic Rs 5 per litre rise in the petrol prices,'' Mr Cheema said. He said that it was ironical that the UPA government had shamelessly inflicted petrol price hike on common man already reeling under unprecedented inflation where as it was bending backward to swell the profits of private multinational civil aviation companies.
