Condemning assertions against Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)’s former president Bibi Jagir Kaur by SAD (Delhi) president Jaswinder Singh Baliyewal, SAD called the move a ‘malicious’ way by the opponents ‘to tarnish the image’ of senior SAD leader.
SAD general-secretary DS Cheema and SAD Member of Parliament (MP) from Faridkot and its women wing president Bibi Paramjit Kaur Gulshan termed it as a ‘cheap politics’. “The issue raised by them is unauthentic and totally a politically motivated move to cause political harm to SAD leader. The grounds on which Bibi Jagir Kaur is being targeted for seeking her disqualification as a voter or candidature for the forthcoming SGPC elections,” said Cheema.
“The purported website photographs could be digital manipulation to give a misleading impression to the public about the personality of the leader. The official authorities must have verified the eligibility of Bibi Jagir Kaur for renewing her as voter of SGPC elections,” added Bibi Gulshan. “If the opponents are so sure about the ineligibility of Kaur as voter of SGPC, they should have waited for decision of SGPC elections authorities. It is just a political stunt.” she further said.
