Rs 1500 CR Earmarked for Health Services Infrastructure

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said a sum of Rs 1500 crore had been earmarked for strengthening health services infrastructure in the state.

Mr Hooda stated this while speaking today at the annual function of the Meerpur Medical Sciences institute at Meerpur in Rewari district. He said that under Indira Bal Swasthya Yojna, more than 40 lakh health cards, were being made for the children upto the age of 18 years.

He said the state government had taken a number of steps to provide quality health services to the poor and the needy in the villages. Rural Health Service had been extended under National Rural Health Mission. Patients were being given free medicine in government hospitals. Affordable surgery package, free operations for the poor and ambulance services for all the villages had been started.

Haryana ranked among the first few states of the country which have implemented National Health Insurance Scheme. Under this scheme, about 5.5 lakh BPL families had been insured, he added. Mr Hooda said that state government was also promoting medical education at large scale. PGIMS Rohtak had been made University. At Badhsa, in Jhajjar District, AIIMS-II was being developed.

A Women medical college at Khanpur Kalan, a medical college in district Mewat, Kalapna Chawla Medical College in Karnal and ESI Medical College at Faridabad were being established. State Finance Minister Ajay Singh Yadav said that by opening the Meerpur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr SS Yadav had done a commendable job. For the treatment of cancer, people were coming here from far off places.
