Records galore at icc world cup before quarter-finals

The knockout stage is all set to begin in the cricket World Cup and in the 42 league games so far, the flagship event of the ICC has witnessed many records.

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar became the first player to score five or more hundreds at the World Cup and Ireland's Kevin O'Brien's 50-ball century against England set a record for the fastest hundred. Australian skipper Ricky Ponting broke the record for the most match appearances in the World Cup and also became the first player to be on the winning side in 250 ODI games.

Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga became the first player to take two hat-tricks in World Cup. Here are more statistical highlights, released by the ICC, in the tournament so far: Sachin Tendulkar became the first batsman to score 2000 ICC Cricket World Cup runs.
