The CBI today told a trial court that it was ready to conduct further investigation against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler for his alleged role in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
The investigation agency expressed its willingness in its reply to a plea by the complainant in the case.
The trial court, however, did not come out with its ruling today on CBI’s third closure report seeking dropping of the case against Tytler for want of evidence as the judge was on leave.
The case now stands adjourned for December 4. The case pertains to the murder of three Sikhs at Gurdwara Pulbangash in Delhi.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SPS Laler was to announce today whether he had accepted CBI’s closure report or the protest petition filed by the victims for further investigation against Tytler.
The CBI had filed the third closure report on December 24, 2014, following which one of the victims, Lakhwinder Kaur, filed a protest petition through senior advocate HS Phoolka. The court heard their arguments on October 28 and 30 and reserved the judgment for November 17.
However, the agency has apparently taken a U-turn today in the light of an assurance by Akali Dal in the name of the victim that they would provide the addresses of eye-witnesses Resham Singh, Chachal Singh and Alam Singh. The CBI had earlier said the addresses were not available.
