Punjab News PSPCL signs MoU with TSPL for expansion of power plant

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) Chairman-cum-Managing Director K D Chaudhri said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) for expansion of Talwandi Sabo Power Plant.

The plant is being developed by M/s Vedantta Group. The present capacity of plant is 1980MW (3x660MW) and the company is going to add another 660 MW in its capacity. Mr Chaudhri said after signing the MoU for the additional 660 MW, the total capacity of the Plant would be 2640 MW which is the the highest in the state. This project is of Super Critical Thermal Plant and the technology is taken from China.

The MoU for the additional power has been signed as per the the state government's Power Generation Policy 2010. PSPCL Director(Generation) G S Chhabra and CEO and whole time Director of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited B K Sharma signed a MoU in this regard. Speaking on the present status of the the project, Mr Chaudhri said that work is going on war footing.

He hoped that company with would be able to complete the main project and its expansion in time. He said that the Punjab Government's new 'Power Generation Policy 2010' is quite attractive and hoped that many more developers would come to develop power plants in the state and soon dream of Mr Parkash Singh Badal making Punjab a power surplus state would be fulfilled.
