POTATO SAUNG
This is a homestyle Mangalorean potato dish. Simple, yet delicious and easy to rustle up. Serve with steamed rice and dal for a quick and wholesome meal.
Cooking Time : 15 mins.
Preparation Time : 5 mins.
Serves 4.
Ingredients
2 large potatoes
¾ cup onions, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chilli powder
1½ teaspoons tamarind (imli) pulp
2 tablespoons oil
salt to tasteMethod
1.Peel and cut the potatoes into thick semicircular slices.
2.Heat the oil, add the onions and sauté till they are translucent.
3.Add the chilli powder and sauté for 1 more minute.
4.Add the potatoes, salt and 1 cup of water. Cover and cook over a medium flame till the potatoes are done.
5.Add the tamarind pulp and simmer for a few more minutes.
6.Serve hot.
