Police have asked daily commuters to avoid major roads in Gurgaon on Tuesday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the city to inaugurate the year-long golden jubilee celebrations to mark 50 years of the formation of Haryana.
Diversions and restrictions have been put in place on major roads in the city as well as National Highway 8 to ensure hassle-free commute for VVIPs and VIPs towards the venue, Tau Devi Lal stadium off Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.
The main focus would be Rajiv Chowk, the heart of the city, which is at stone’s throw distance from the venue. The road towards Subhash Chowk on the left will not be accessible to commuters from 2pm as VIPs and VVIPs will take this route on way to the venue.
The road will open for common public only after the event is over, said a police spokesperson.
“Commuters coming from NH 8 and going toward Subhash Chowk and Sohna Chowk will not take a left turn at Rajiv Chowk but will go towards Hero Honda Chowk,” he said.
Apart from the Prime Minister and Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar, over 50,000 people, including 1,500 VIPs and 800 VVIPs, are expected to take part in the event that marks the 51st year of Haryana’s inception.
The guest list includes Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, politicians from the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled states including chief ministers, ministers in Union and state government and achievers in various fields from Haryana.
While government establishments remained closed due to public holiday announced by the state government on Monday, attendance was minimal at corporate offices considering the advisory and festival mood.
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC are already in effect from Monday from Leisure Valley in Sector 29 to Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
Traffic advisory
Visitors from Delhi to travel on Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway. Take exit 7-Huda City Centre-Cyber Park, Sector 39-Bakhtawar Singh Chowk and park at number 7, Sector 47 (category B).
Visitors from Sohna Road to take right from Subhash Chowk, enter gate number 3 of Sector 38 and park in number 7 lot.
Visitors from Faridabad road to come via from Ghata mod-CRPF Chowk, Wazirabad Chowk, Artemis Chowk, Mayfield Garden T-point and park at number 7 lot.
Visitors from Jaipur side on NH-8 to take a U-turn from Hero Honda Chowk, Subhash Chowk, and park at number 7 lot. They can also take exit number 13 towards Rajiv Chowk and enter parking number 6.
Farrukhnagar visitors to travel from Basai Chowk, Himgiri Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk. From Hero Honda Chowk, they can either choose the route to parking number 7 or parking number 6.
Visitors from Pataudi Road to travel via Himgiri Chowk-Hero Honda Chowk. From there they can either go to parking number 7 or to parking number 6.
From Daultabad flyover, visitors can travel to sector 4-5, Chintpurni temple, Mata road, Atul Kataria Chowk-Signature tower, Huda City Centre-Cyber park sector 39, Bakhtawar Singh Chowk and proceed to parking number 7.
From Najafgarh road, visitors can go via Bajghera railway crossing, Spanish court Chowk, take a right to Mata road, Atul Kataria Chowk, Signature tower, Huda City Centre-Cyber park sector 39, Bakhtawar Singh Chowk and reach parking number 7.
Visitors from Mehrauli road can travel via Le Meridian T-point, Silver Oaks Chowk, Sector 42-27 Chowk, Golf Course Road, Genpact Chowk, Kanhai Chowk, Artemis Chowk, Mayfield Garden T-point and park at number 7.
