Many Sikh maintain the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji is “100% true”, so I’ll present some of the blatantly false statements made in the GGS about the cosmos.

Guru Granth Sahib states:
“From this primal void, came the moon, the sun and the earth.”

This is wrong.

We know that the Earth, Moon, and the Sun need particular elements to form them – they is not pop in to existence, nor were they instantaneously created.

Big Bang nucleosynthesis refers to the production of nuclei other than those of H-1. Big Bang nucleosynthesis begins about three minutes after the Big Bang, when the universe has cooled down sufficiently to form stable protons and neutrons, after baryogenesis.


Big Bang nucleosynthesis produced no elements heavier than beryllium, due to a bottleneck: the absence of a stable nucleus with 8 or 5 nucleons. In stars, the bottleneck is passed by triple collisions of helium-4 nuclei, producing carbon (the triple-alpha process). However, this process is very slow, taking tens of thousands of years to convert a significant amount of helium to carbon in stars, and therefore it made a negligible contribution in the minutes following the Big Bang.

The formation of the elements that made our solar system took billions of years to come together to eventually form the Sun, the Earth, and the Moon.

Language has emerged out of the social nature of primates that have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years – it was not created.

This is wrong for the same reasons as stated earlier about Big Bang nucleosynthesis.

Water requires hydrogen and oxygen, not available at the beginning of the universe. Oxygen had to be created through the formation of stars. There is no way “rivers” started to flow.

This is wrong.

We CAN perceive these expanding limits, in fact we have, and we know that The Universe is 13.7 billion years old with an increasing rate of accuracy.

This is wrong.

The moon does not emit light, it reflects the light from the sun. We can even demonstrate how it happens.

bhaji main prove kuch nahin kar reha si, but i have seen that trend here that ppl are creating threads saying that xyz is wrong in this religion's book and then somebody else will towards other religion's book in separate thread. instead of finding or publishing only mistakes why cannt we discuss good things/knowledge given in that book/script.

bhaji i know you have a lot of knowledge abt religions and holy scripts but by saying that 99% are reasearching online i was pointing towards users who are just searching it online for sake of arguements.

So, Its not wrong after all as the shabd doesn't mention time frame. It took billions of years and very comlicated process but Sun. earth did came from the void

13.7 billion years old, but how big it is ? No, one know.So SGGS correct again.

First, the thread starter didn't find any stuff having worth of being argued upon. The thread starter didn't find anything that sponsors social-ills or evils viz. superstition, division based on casteism, inequality, and discrimination against women etc. That's good for us.

Second, the thread starter takes scientific theories as the premise to prove afore-mentioned religious points/lines wrong. Herein, let me clarify that the Science community is still debating, and there's still no consensus on theories of Big-Bang & Evolution etc., which the thread starter's assuming to be as facts.

Writer has confused himself with the proper meaning of the word "Sunnum" in the given quote.Here the meaning of the word Sunnum is being considered as "Void" so he feels that the claims in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji are false. We can look at the actual meaning of the word 'Sunnum" as reference for the Non Active State of the matter of the Universe then the meanings of the quote would become more clear and true.

First of all How Science Can prove that there was no oxygen and hydrogen.is they can prove??they cannot prove..science say Supernova theory Gave birth to Water and Air,Supernova is star that suddenly increases greatly in brightness because of a catastrophic explosion that ejects most of its mass..Now who Created that Star,,how it worked??Science does not know,,but Guru ji says

gurbani says He created the Sun and the Moon; night and day, they move according to His Will (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 580).

You Yourself created the Earth and the two lamps: the Sun and the Moon (Guru Granth Sahib Ji, 83).

moon could have another form of light .basically guru ji saying that waheguru created a light lamps ,one in day and one in night..Read this line again
He infused His Light into them He give his light to moon and sun,now i does not matter how moon gets that light? he get it through Sun or get directly from god,what diffrence it makes..finaaly anyway he get a light which comes from god[ my teeer tuke opinion

[SIZE=+1]Nā ko ākẖ vakẖāṇai ḏūjā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]No one spoke or talked in duality.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਇਦਾ ॥੬॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]आपे आपि उपाइ विगसै आपे कीमति पाइदा ॥६॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Āpe āp upā▫e vigsai āpe kīmaṯ pā▫iḏā. ||6||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]He created Himself, and rejoiced; He evaluates Himself. ||6||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾ ਸੁਚਿ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਤੁਲਸੀ ਮਾਲਾ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ना सुचि संजमु तुलसी माला ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nā sucẖ sanjam ṯulsī mālā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no purification, no self-restraint, no malas of basil seeds.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਗੋਪੀ ਕਾਨੁ ਨ ਗਊ ਗਆਲਾ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]गोपी कानु न गऊ गोआला ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Gopī kān na ga▫ū go▫ālā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no Gopis, no Krishna, no cows or cowherds.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਤੰਤੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਵੰਸੁ ਵਜਾਇਦਾ ॥੭॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]तंतु मंतु पाखंडु न कोई ना को वंसु वजाइदा ॥७॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Ŧanṯ manṯ pakẖand na ko▫ī nā ko vans vajā▫iḏā. ||7||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no tantras, no mantras and no hypocrisy; no one played the flute. ||7||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਕਰਮ ਧਰਮ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਖੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]करम धरम नही माइआ माखी ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Karam ḏẖaram nahī mā▫i▫ā mākẖī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no karma, no Dharma, no buzzing fly of Maya.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਜਾਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਦੀਸੈ ਆਖੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]जाति जनमु नही दीसै आखी ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Jāṯ janam nahī ḏīsai ākẖī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Social class and birth were not seen with any eyes.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਮਮਤਾ ਜਾਲੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨਹੀ ਮਾਥੈ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਕਿਸੈ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ॥੮॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ममता जालु कालु नही माथै ना को किसै धिआइदा ॥८॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Mamṯā jāl kāl nahī māthai nā ko kisai ḏẖi▫ā▫iḏā. ||8||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no noose of attachment, no death inscribed upon the forehead; no one meditated on anything. ||8||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਿੰਦੁ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਜੀਉ ਨ ਜਿੰਦੋ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]निंदु बिंदु नही जीउ न जिंदो ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Ninḏ binḏ nahī jī▫o na jinḏo.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no slander, no seed, no soul and no life.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾ ਤਦਿ ਗੋਰਖੁ ਨਾ ਮਾਛਿੰਦੋ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ना तदि गोरखु ना माछिंदो ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nā ṯaḏ gorakẖ nā mācẖẖinḏo.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no Gorakh and no Maachhindra.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾ ਤਦਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਕੁਲ ਓਪਤਿ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਗਣਤ ਗਣਾਇਦਾ ॥੯॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ना तदि गिआनु धिआनु कुल ओपति ना को गणत गणाइदा ॥९॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nā ṯaḏ gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān kul opaṯ nā ko gaṇaṯ gaṇā▫iḏā. ||9||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no spiritual wisdom or meditation, no ancestry or creation, no reckoning of accounts. ||9||

[SIZE=+1]ਵਰਨ ਭੇਖ ਨਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਣ ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]वरन भेख नही ब्रहमण खत्री ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]varan bẖekẖ nahī barahmaṇ kẖaṯrī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no castes or social classes, no religious robes, no Brahmin or Kshatriya.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਦੇਉ ਨ ਦੇਹੁਰਾ ਗਊ ਗਾਇਤ੍ਰੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]देउ न देहुरा गऊ गाइत्री ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Ḏe▫o na ḏehurā ga▫ū gā▫iṯarī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no demi-gods or temples, no cows or Gaayatri prayer.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਨਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਪੂਜਾ ਲਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੦॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]होम जग नही तीरथि नावणु ना को पूजा लाइदा ॥१०॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Hom jag nahī ṯirath nāvaṇ nā ko pūjā lā▫iḏā. ||10||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no burnt offerings, no ceremonial feasts, no cleansing rituals at sacred shrines of pilgrimage; no one worshipped in adoration. ||10||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾ ਕੋ ਮੁਲਾ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਜੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ना को मुला ना को काजी ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nā ko mulā nā ko kājī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no Mullah, there was no Qazi.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾ ਕੋ ਸੇਖੁ ਮਸਾਇਕੁ ਹਾਜੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ना को सेखु मसाइकु हाजी ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nā ko sekẖ masā▫ik hājī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no Shaykh, or pilgrims to Mecca.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਰਈਅਤਿ ਰਾਉ ਨ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨਾ ਕੋ ਕਹਣੁ ਕਹਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੧॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]रईअति राउ न हउमै दुनीआ ना को कहणु कहाइदा ॥११॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Ra▫ī▫aṯ rā▫o na ha▫umai ḏunī▫ā nā ko kahaṇ kahā▫iḏā. ||11||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no king or subjects, and no worldly egotism; no one spoke of himself. ||11||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਭਾਉ ਨ ਭਗਤੀ ਨਾ ਸਿਵ ਸਕਤੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]भाउ न भगती ना सिव सकती ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Bẖā▫o na bẖagṯī nā siv sakṯī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no love or devotion, no Shiva or Shakti - no energy or matter.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਬਿੰਦੁ ਨਹੀ ਰਕਤੀ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]साजनु मीतु बिंदु नही रकती ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Sājan mīṯ binḏ nahī rakṯī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no friends or companions, no semen or blood.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਸਾਚੇ ਏਹੋ ਭਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੨॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]आपे साहु आपे वणजारा साचे एहो भाइदा ॥१२॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Āpe sāhu āpe vaṇjārā sācẖe eho bẖā▫iḏā. ||12||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]He Himself is the banker, and He Himself is the merchant. Such is the Pleasure of the Will of the True Lord. ||12||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਨ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਸਾਸਤ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]बेद कतेब न सिम्रिति सासत ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Beḏ kaṯeb na simriṯ sāsaṯ.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There were no Vedas, Korans or Bibles, no Simritees or Shaastras.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਪਾਠ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਉਦੈ ਨਹੀ ਆਸਤ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]पाठ पुराण उदै नही आसत ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Pāṯẖ purāṇ uḏai nahī āsaṯ.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]There was no recitation of the Puraanas, no sunrise or sunset.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਕਹਤਾ ਬਕਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੩॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]कहता बकता आपि अगोचरु आपे अलखु लखाइदा ॥१३॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Kahṯā bakṯā āp agocẖar āpe alakẖ lakẖā▫iḏā. ||13||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]The Unfathomable Lord Himself was the speaker and the preacher; the unseen Lord Himself saw everything. ||13||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਜਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਾ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]जा तिसु भाणा ता जगतु उपाइआ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Jā ṯis bẖāṇā ṯā jagaṯ upā▫i▫ā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]When He so willed, He created the world.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਬਾਝੁ ਕਲਾ ਆਡਾਣੁ ਰਹਾਇਆ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]बाझु कला आडाणु रहाइआ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Bājẖ kalā ādāṇ rahā▫i▫ā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Without any supporting power, He sustained the universe.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਬ੍ਰਹਮਾ ਬਿਸਨੁ ਮਹੇਸੁ ਉਪਾਏ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹੁ ਵਧਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੪॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ब्रहमा बिसनु महेसु उपाए माइआ मोहु वधाइदा ॥१४॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Barahmā bisan mahes upā▫e mā▫i▫ā moh vaḏẖā▫iḏā. ||14||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]He created Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva; He fostered enticement and attachment to Maya. ||14||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਵਿਰਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਬਦੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਆ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]विरले कउ गुरि सबदु सुणाइआ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]virle ka▫o gur sabaḏ suṇā▫i▫ā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]How rare is that person who listens to the Word of the Guru's Shabad.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]करि करि देखै हुकमु सबाइआ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Kar kar ḏekẖai hukam sabā▫i▫ā.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]He created the creation, and watches over it; the Hukam of His Command is over all.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਅਰੰਭੇ ਗੁਪਤਹੁ ਪਰਗਟੀ ਆਇਦਾ ॥੧੫॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]खंड ब्रहमंड पाताल अर्मभे गुपतहु परगटी आइदा ॥१५॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Kẖand barahmand pāṯāl arambẖe gupṯahu pargatī ā▫iḏā. ||15||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]He formed the planets, solar systems and nether regions, and brought what was hidden to manifestation. ||15||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ता का अंतु न जाणै कोई ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Ŧā kā anṯ na jāṇai ko▫ī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]No one knows His limits.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਪੂਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]पूरे गुर ते सोझी होई ॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Pūre gur ṯe sojẖī ho▫ī.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]This understanding comes from the Perfect Guru.[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਬਿਸਮਾਦੀ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਏ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਦਾ ॥੧੬॥੩॥੧੫॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]नानक साचि रते बिसमादी बिसम भए गुण गाइदा ॥१६॥३॥१५॥[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]Nānak sācẖ raṯe bismāḏī bisam bẖa▫e guṇ gā▫iḏā. ||16||3||15||[/SIZE]
[SIZE=+1]O Nanak, those who are attuned to the Truth are wonderstruck; singing His Glorious Praises, they are filled with wonder. ||16||3||15||[/SIZE]
