In a hit-and-run case, a pedestrian, who was hit by a recklessly driven car at the road dividing Sectors 27 and 30 yesterday, succumbed to his injuries at the PGI today.
According to the police, Kewal, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, reported that a car sped away after hitting the pedestrian, identified as Baldev Singh, a resident of Sector 8. Eyewitnesses gave the registration number of the car to the police following which the police have started an investigation.
A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered against the accused at the Sector 26 police station.
