The Patel leaders in Gujarat tonight declared to continue their agitation seeking reservation benefits for the "Patidars" and resurrect the "reverse Dandi yatra" but with a new nomenclature of "Ekta yatra" on Wednesday.
Contradictory claims were made about the outcome of the talks between Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and the Patidar leaders held this evening at the CM's official residence. Patidar Anamat (Reservation) Andolan Samiti (PAAS) convener Hardik Patel said the three-hour meeting ended "without any outcome", while state Cabinet spokesman and Health Minister Nitin Patel called it a "good beginning" to understand each other's view points.
Announcing that the "reverse Dandi yatra" would be launched from Dandi on Wednesday but would be called "Ekta Yatra" of all Patidar leaders across various Patel groups, Hardik said the Patel leaders had expressed their viewpoints before the CM on some of which she agreed. "We expect the government to come out with some solutions in the next 10 days but till then our agitation will continue," he said. Hardik said the Patel leaders had made the police excesses on them the main agenda in today's talks and the reservation issue would be taken up once this issue was resolved. Terming the meeting "satisfactory," Nitin Patel said "each and every point presented by the Patidar leaders was listened to and discussed in detail" at the meeting with the CM.
