رChandigarh March 18:

Rebel Congress councillor Jagjit Singh Kang along with the opposition leaders and councillors filed a complaint against Union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to President Pratibha Devisingh Patil, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Speaker of Lok Sabha Meira Kumar and chairman of Rajya Sabha Hamid Ansari and requested them to take a strict action against Bansal for contemptibly flouting the secrecy of votes in the election of the mayor of Chandigarh held on January 1 by instigating and provoking the Congress councillors to take their mobile phones inside the polling booth.

In the letter, the opposition leaders said that the Union minister had violated specific directions of the presiding officer and had pressurized the councillors to click pictures of their ballot papers after casting their vote and had asked them to show the same to him to ensure that they had voted for the candidate of his choice. Finally, the leaders requested that the Union minister of parliamentary affairs should be dropped from the cabinet at the earliest.
