One dead, one injured in firing incident in punjab

Gang rivalry claimed the life of one college student and left another injured after they were fired upon by members of a rival group outside the court's complex at Jagraon in this district this morning.

Police sources here said that the miscreants were in a car and they managed to flee after firing. However, a .12 bore gun which was used in the firing fell from the car when they were fleeing. The police has taken the weapon into possesion.

The deceased was identified as Hargun Singh and the injured was identified as Inderjeet Singh. Both were students of a college in Jagraon and they had come to the courts to attend a case hearing. The injured student was admitted at a hospital.

The polcie has identified the miscreants involved in the firing and have registered a case against the, They are members of a rival students gang of the same college in which the deceased and his fried were studying. Elections to the student body of the college was the reason for the rivalry between the two groups.
