Here's a list of connections of old and new punjabi songs:


Jazzy B's song, Yaari, from Romeo, is inspired by Chamkila & Surinder Sonia's Takua Te Takua Kadke.
(same tune & both songs have the lyrics 'je thetho nai nibhdi chad de vairne yaari)


Jazzy B's Desi Boliyaan uses the lines from Kuldeep Manak's Ik Jogi.
(the used lyrics are "ik jogi tilleyon aagaya... ni bhabhi... ho mithi mithi been bajagaya... ni bhabhi... hath vich chimta kannan de vich mundaran...")


K Deep & Jagmohan Kaur's Baba Ve Kala Maror was resung by UK artists BEE2 & Rashi (additional vocals by Nitasha).


Shri Lal Chand Yamla Jatt's classic song, Tere Ni Karara Mainu Patteya, was one of the 1st Punjabi songs to have a "part 2", which means different lyrics but same tune/beat song. The "part 2" is called Main Teri Tu Mera.

K Deep & Jagmohan Kaur's Do Charriyan Di Ikk Dholki was resung by artist Shveta in D-Boy's album, Playback Vol 1.


Surinder Kaur's classic, Akhiyaan Ch Tu Wasda, was playing on a radio in the recent Bollywood film, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!

The classic song, Kach De Glass Vich, by Chamkila, is the influence for the Indy Sagu-Manak-E collaboration song, Lakk Hilda. Listen for the tune in the following lines:

The classic song, Gora Gora Rang, by Chamkila & Amarjot, is the influence for 2 songs, Driveran Da, by Nachhatar Gill, and Fatal Fuzion, by Milan. In both of the songs, the following lines are said by both artists, respectively:

Tere Nak Da Koka, by Kuldeep Manak, was resung by Kuldeep Manak himself on Taj-E's CD with the title, Koka.

Also, the song was resung by Sukhdev Darapuria (with music by Joti Dhillon) titled Tere Nak Da Koka.

Interestingly, Sukhdev Darapuria & Kuldeep Manak collaborated on a song titled, Rasaloo, which is also produced by Joti Dhillon.

Kuldeep Manak sang the song "Chadar" and then his son, Yudhvir Manak, also re-sang this song not too long ago and they're both great to listen to. Yudhvir's voice on that song can almost fool you for being Manak senior's voice. Give it a listen!
