Nvidia Tegra K1 Processor announced, coming in 32-bit and 64-bit versions
Today NVIDIA unveiled its brand new Tegra K1 SoC during a press event at CES. This SoC will be coming to flagship smartphones starting from this year. This 192 CUDA-core based Tegra K1 is designed not only for smartphones and tablets, but for 4K TVs, consoles and cars too. Nvidia Tgera K1 comes with 192 CUDA cores and is based on NVIDIAβs Kepler architecture, it will be coming in quad-core Cortex A15 (+1 shadow Cortex A15 core) and dual-core Denver (64-bit ARMv8) versions.
The Kepler GPU will provide you the laptop-class computing and gaming experience on your Mobile Devices and will also take care of the battery life. βOver the past two decades, NVIDIA invented the GPU and has developed more graphics technologies than any other company. With Tegra K1, weβre bringing that heritage to mobile. It bridges the gap for developers, who can now build next-gen games and apps that will run on any device,β said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and CEO, NVIDIA. β
According to NVIDIA, the Tgera K1β²s Kepler GPU is 1.5 times more efficient than any other mobiles GPUs like Adreno 330 of Snapdragon 800 or Apple A7. The 64-bit Denver version of Tegra K1 will be coming in the second half of 2014, while the A15 version of Tegra K1 will be coming as a part of commercial devices in the first half of 2014.
