Pop sensation Justin Bieber came under attack in Sydney on Saturday when eggs were pelted at him during a concert.

The 17-year-old was performing at the city's Acer Arena when two eggs landed close to him, Sky News Australia reported. Soon after, four more eggs appeared to fall from directly above the singer.

The Canadian superstar however did not miss a beat, and continued to perform as a helper cleaned up the mess.

Bieber fans immediately took to social networking sites to express their outrage. One posted a Twitter warning: "Dear person who threw eggs at @justinbieber in Sydney, you now have over #9millionbeliebers after you, be afraid! We go harder than hard!"

Some, however, have suggested it might be a set-up, from the way the eggs seem to have fallen directly from above.

Bieber, who became the most searched celebrity on the internet last year, is currently on the first leg of his My World Tour covering 27 countries. It's rumoured that the tour has already grossed upwards of $36 million (Dh132.21) million.
