The music composer trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy mesmerised the Ludhiana residents with their power-packed performance at Harsheela Resorts late on Saturday night.
In the city to honour and perform live with the winner of a talent hunt show, Arun Mahajan, the trio left the audience mesmerised by modifying some of their most popular numbers and dedicating them to Ludhiana and its people.
Before the performance, the trio said it was not for the first time that they had visited Ludhiana. "We were here many years back as well and then also Ludhiana was known for its audience for versatile music. It is not just the Punjabi numbers and beats which they like but also appreciate soothing, good, quality music," said Shankar Mahadevan.
Asked about the contribution of Punjabi music to Indian cinema, the trio replied in unison, "You call Punjabi music loud, noisy and whatever, but truth is today no good music is possible without foot-tapping dhol beats. Even most of our numbers have elements of Punjabi music."
The trio performed with their crew of musicians brought along from Mumbai. Some of the numbers which made the audience go berserk were Pretty Woman from Kal Ho Na Ho, Tere Naina from My Name is Khan, some numbers from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Rock On!.
However, despite the entry being free, the audience was present in moderate numbers as the venue was located on the periphery of the city.
