BMW M5 and Mercedes E 63 AMG rival from Audi to be powered by 4.0-litre V8 good for 553bhp.

Audi India has announced via its official Facebook page that it will launch the new RS7 Sportback in India on January 6, 2014.

The new Audi RS7 is a high-performance version the A7 Sportback. Power comes from a 4.0-litre TFSI twin-turbo V8 engine good for 553bhp and 71.38kgm of torque mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This motor is similar to the one used in the Audi S6 launched last year, as well as the Bentley Continental GT, but with more power and torque. And in case you're wondering why Audi is not launching the high-performance version of the A6 - the RS6 - that's because the current generation of that car is only available as a station wagon or estate, and not as a saloon.

The carmaker claims that the new Audi RS7 can do the 0-100kph sprint in 3.9 seconds and can go all the way to an electrically limited top speed of 250kph. As with all Audi RS models, the RS7 gets the company's Quattro four-wheel-drive system, and there are plenty of sporty exterior styling cues to differentiate it from the standard Audi A7. And if fuel economy is a concern for you in a car like this, the engine also features cylinder deactivation, whereby it shuts off four cylinders under low engine load for greater efficiency.

The new Audi RS7 will rival the likes of the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 AMG sedan in India, and we expect Audi to price the new RS7 at around Rs 1.3 crore (ex-showroom).

Look at the price tag of 1.3 cr !

for that much its quiet slower!

your right rexy / skyline / supras can do betterthen this for less $$

from the owners what I've heard is that the Audi-s are not the most reliable cars so big no no for the brand

i think 0-100km in 3.9 sec is a pretty good time. Its in the super car category speed even Audi rs7 is a luxury sports car. These cars are so heavy at least 4000lbs bcoz of all the luxury and technology they put in these cars. Plus keep in mind german cars are usually under-rated for their performance. I think that motor is making around 590hp and could push it 0-100km in 3.5sec.
Pricewise, i think its almost double the money than somebody would pay in US.

its not that bad , but price is making it look ridiculous

'i dont mind german cars but audi in particular isn't much of a success in here.

cuz i beleive u on some other car beating it in 0-60 time. A car under $20 grand would beat it on a drag strip. but guys i think we are on the wrong track here. we are comparing a production luxury sports car to a spooled up version of a sports car.
this ridiculous price is bcoz of indian customs.

Not only indian customs even in melbourne these cars are well overprized

a Nissan GTR costs around 180K au dollars in here

and a Mustang costs around 100K just because they are imports from a left hand drive nation
