The modelling industry has been dictating the terms for beauty for quite sometime now. Sure, a lot of us do not take to those definitions but there are quite a lot of impressionable minds that are adversely affected.

What this industry then does with its constant representation of fair, skinny, tall, flawless women and well-built and chiseled men is that it narrows down what we consider to be beautiful.

But recently, the modelling industry has been in the news for all the right reasons and breaking quite a lot of its own stereotypes. It is increasingly becoming all-encompassing, including beauties from all over the globe. It has become more tolerant and inclusive of models with unusual physical conditions.

The latest model to make wave is Burberry's first Indian model Neelam Gill. The gorgeous 20-year-old made her modeling debut with Burberry and has been picked by Kanye West for his Adidas show at New York Fashion Week.

Sure, she does not challenge the beauty norms but Burberry has definitely taken a step forward to be more inclusive. In an interview with Elle magazine, she mentioned that she wants to raise awareness about diversity in the industry.

The industry has opened itself to models like Winnie Harlow, Andreja Pejic, Stephen Thompson, Shaun Ross, Madeline Stuart and Tess Holliday.
