Got a nasty cold? Blame it on the virus! Diseases purely breed on infection, if the bacteria cannot spread; the disease is done for good. Thanks to malicious viruses, harmful parasites and spiteful bacteria, you are never far away from catching a quick cold or developing a pink eye. These wily microbes happily hop from one body to another, often spreading like wildfire and infecting every other person they lay their hands on. Contagious diseases are often transmitted through everyday contact and it’s not until you get the sniffles and sneezes that you realize you have been infected. No matter how much you try, it’s never really easy to save yourself from these nasty microbes. Contagious diseases are highly debilitating. They can impair your immunity and can make your body susceptible to illness and infection. Although, vaccines and personal hygiene are the best ways to stay clear of all kinds of infectious raids, educating yourself on the various contagious disease and their possible threats is undeniably the wisest ways to keep yourself protected. After all, it is always better to be well informed than sorry, isn’t it?

Contagious Disease List

Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is a highly infectious virus that primarily bugs the liver. The big glitch is that there is no cure for this chronic liver disease and victims plagued by it often have to live with it without any possible treatment. The Hepatitis A virus loves to breed in unsanitary conditions and is commonly transmitted through the fecal-oral route. Thus, gorging on roadside contaminated food or gulping germ-infested water can pollute your system and put you at the risk of getting this highly contagious disease. Remember, the only way to immunize yourself from this viral pest is to get vaccinated.

Malaria
This mosquito-borne highly infectious disease perhaps holds the highest record of infecting and killing most number of people worldwide. Primarily budding in the gut of the Anopheles mosquito, the malaria parasite is transmitted to the body through the insect’s sting, from where it goes to the liver and invades the blood stream, corrupting the blood’s health and causing bouts of fever, nausea and convulsions. Anti-malarial drugs are possibly the only known cure for this disease.

Measles
Measles is perhaps the most contagious disease known to man and almost spreads like wildfire. What makes measles dreadful is its easily transmissible trait that can pass on from one person to another through direct contact. Measles is more common among kids. However, the good news is that once you have contracted measles, you are likely to be immune against it for the rest of your life.

Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis also ranks high on the list of contagious disease, and like common cold, spreads through air. This nasty lung-attacking disease is often characterized by chest pain, phlegm-filled cough, night sweats, weight-loss and fatigue and often spreads through direct contact, coughing and sneezing.

Influenza
This extremely common viral infection also referred to as the flu, which primarily plagues the nose, throat, bronchi and lungs, is perhaps the most commonly known infectious disease on earth. Influenza is a highly contagious disease that often spreads through direct contact or through air and is often accompanied by fever, chills, coughs, body aches, fatigue, congestion and headaches.

Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis or pink eye is another contagious disease triggered by an allergic reaction or viral raid in the conjunctiva. This highly infectious eye disease is often accompanied by redness in the eye, swelling, pain, sensitivity to light, watery discharge and more and is often the handiwork of some wily bacteria, irritants, toxic agents, virus and more.

Common Cold
The common cold is an extremely contagious viral illness that primarily infects the lining of your nose, causing bouts of sniffles and sneezing and accompanied by a sore throat and a persistent cough. This virus infects the upper respiratory tract of the body and the symptoms usually peak during the winters and rainy seasons. The only way to say goodbye to common cold is to wash your hands always and maintain proper hygiene.
